A chatbot over operational data is only useful when the answer can be inspected. The retrieval layer needed to preserve business context, stay current as source data changed, and avoid reprocessing an entire corpus for every update.

Content is chunked with source, timestamp, and domain metadata carried alongside each embedding. Incremental refresh re-embeds only changed content. LangChain and LangGraph orchestrate retrieval and response context, while the vector store keeps the path from question to source inspectable.
